The city is close to finalizing the re-design of traffic patterns, sidewalks, cross-walks and bike lanes for W. Newton Square. They’ll also be adding 24 parking spaces, mostly around Blue Ribbon (yum). The city hopes to break ground on the $3 million dollar project this fall that will help make the square safer and look a little nicer. Construction will take about a year.
You know that W. Newton Square ranks in the top 5% of the Boston area for worst crashes? The Sweet Tomatoes tragedy last year. The Cherry Tree disaster in 2014. I mean that dude tried to drive into the Tree. Let’s make W. Newton Square safe again you guys.
