8/31/2014: Keltic Krust closed

Guest blog from Kyle today you guys. I was honestly so bummed I couldn’t write this one. Anybody that knows me knows I’m in the croissant game and nobody did it better than Keltic. At least on this sad day you can enjoy some real writing…

Keltic Krust sprung one on us this weekend, announcing on Facebook on Saturday that Sunday was their last day of business. We made a final visit on Sunday morning, spreading corn muffin crumbs on the floor for a final time and grabbing some raisin soda bread for the road. “Amazing Grace” was playing on bagpipes on the speakers. Fitting.

It sounds like Keltic will live on by selling through farmers markets, hopefully stores like Russo’s, and even selling direct through the web so this is not the last time we enjoy their baked goods. A gourmet food to go place is going into the space and they may be open in the morning for coffee. Reports of a espresso machine going into the Cherry Tree are unconfirmed as of this writing.

8/26/2014: New front steps & walkway

So we got four estimates to demo our existing front steps & walkway and rebuild with bluestone.  Also replacing the wood columns with new fiberglass columns.  Estimates ranged from $10-20k.  The guy who quoted me $20k can kiss my ass.

We chose Star Quality Construction and they start today (I hope).  Total job cost is $10,800 — including the columns.  Kinda a no-brainer to go with a company called Star Quality.  Obviously their work must be awesome.

Only downside is all the jack-hammering today.  Sorry you guys.  I asked John if I could use the jack-hammer and he kinda looked at me like you serious bro?  Guess because of insurance & liability it’s better for his guys to do it.

Anyway — here’s the before shot.  Hope to have an after shot on Friday.

8/15/2014: Bad-ass car on RP

Sorry for sleeping on the blog lately you guys.  Crazy busy at work.  Some would say everything I touch turns to sold.  Others would say everything I touch turns to 60 days on market. Whatever.

A lot of talk lately about the new sidewalks going in.  Don’t really know much about that.

What I do know is there is a bad-ass car parked on RP.  Look at this thing.

Would love to know who’s driving this hog and invite him to Scotch Club. But if we’re being totally real, this hoss doesn’t go to clubs to drink. Probably drinks gasoline from a mason jar. Hand rolls his own cigarettes and lights em by striking a match on his Wranglers. Probably says things like alright, alright alright.
